This month, we took another big step forward in our mission to end pet overpopulation in Ukraine through our #JustSpayOneUntilThereAreNone initiative. With the arrival of a low-cost mobile vet clinic in town, we seized the opportunity to make a real impact, funding the spay surgery for 21 dogs!

In just 2.5 days, over 200 animals received affordable spay surgeries where guardians were only required to pay the cost of consumables – with us covering the cost for 21 dogs from families on tight budgets – in a country where many live on low incomes, this support is life-changing.

These weren’t just any dogs. Some were strays, struggling to survive on the streets. Others belonged to families living on meagre pensions or low incomes, who simply couldn’t afford the procedure. In Ukraine, where the average monthly pension is just $60, the cost of sterilization – sometimes as much as 2 times their pension or more – is often out of reach. For these families, even the smallest financial burden can mean difficult choices, and unfortunately, sterilization often falls by the wayside.

But thanks to your support, we were able to step in. By covering the cost of these surgeries, we didn’t just change the lives of these 21 dogs – we also prevented countless unwanted litters and helped break the cycle of being born into a life of suffering before it began. Every sterilization is a step toward – fewer stray animals struggling to survive, fewer puppies abandoned, and healthier, happier lives for pets and their owners.

This is why our work must continue. The need remains urgent, and with your support, we can keep pushing forward.
